Out of Control
Taming the Wild Nature of the Mind (continued)
We’ll continue more in
the next post with specifically having a look at the ‘wild nature of the mind’
as it now exists because we’re not the directive principle of our own
thoughts/emotions, for example and so why/how we’re not in control of our own
Minds and our own life/living experiences/decisions. In this, we’re going to
see how we can assist / support ourselves to rebuild ourselves, recreate
ourselves within and without.
Let’s have a look at the definition ‘the Wild Nature of the
Mind’ and why the Mind itself is ‘Wild’ with regards to our current
relationship towards it:
In the above paragraph I stated that we’re not the directive
principle of our own thoughts and emotions, which means that we’re not in
control of our own Minds. If we’re not in control of our own Minds – then we’re
not in control of our life/living and what we use to guide us through our
lives, which is: Decisions.
Let’s break this down more specifically:
“we’re not the
directive principle of our own thoughts and emotions” – What does this
mean?
If you have a look at moments during your day – you can
observe how sometimes, random thoughts
will come up within you that are no way contextual to your immediate surroundings.
An example is: you’re discussing plans with an individual, because you’re part
of a committee that is planning a big event. All of a sudden – you start
thinking about the individual sexually, imagining you in relationship with
them, start thinking about what they look like / what they’re wearing. All of
this is happening in your Mind while your immediate surroundings in reality is
about planning and discussing an event. Additionally within this, your
relationship with this individual in relation to how the two of you interact is
purely platonic and there has been no discussion / communication or even
indication of engaging in a relationship with them.
Then, with the thoughts – comes feelings/emotions
that activates. Again, the thoughts and emotions in the mind just ‘came up out
of nowhere’ – suddenly/unexpectedly. So, the context here that I am looking at
that you can also practically assess for yourself is: while you’re doing
something in REALITY or interacting with another individual and in such moments
your Mind starts becoming busy with all sorts of different things that are in
NO WAY related to the immediate moment in reality - this comes to show how we’re
not the directive principle of our own thoughts and emotions, because they are
just accepted and allowed to run amok in our Minds and take us into all sorts
of different directions/alternate realities and separate us from what’s real,
what’s here in every moment of Breath.
This opens up another point: it’s interesting when looking
at the relationship
to such thoughts and emotions that we tend to then “believe them / have faith
in them” IMMEDIATELY because they “seemingly came out of nowhere” – where this “blind
trust” is placed on the thoughts and emotions that come up in such a way. When
it should actually be the opposite: because they come up out of nowhere,
because they come up in moments where such thoughts and emotions are in fact
completely irrelevant – we should be QUESTIONING them, investigating what triggered
/ activated such thoughts and emotions in the Mind; asking the question(s): “Why
was I not here, grounded and stable in my participation with reality / the
person(s) I was interacting with and keeping everything contextual? Why and how
did I wander off into mind-dimensions that had no context to reality?” But,
instead of doing this – we exist in reverse: we then tend to BELIEVE the
Mind’s thoughts and emotions MORE and create an absolute Illusion about the
relationship to reality / another person and more often than not – reality PROVES
that whatever the thoughts and emotions showed was not real. Sometimes, even
despite reality PROVING that the thoughts / emotions aren’t real – the individual
is so possessed within the belief/faith/trust of the thoughts and emotions that
they are still pursued.
However, the focus point of this post is for self to
practically apply this for oneself: keep one’s awareness
focused on finding such moments within your day where random thoughts and
emotions will come up that are completely out of context to reality / the
moment of participation with something/someone. In this, one will thus see for
oneself how the thoughts will come and the emotions will activate and one will
simply immediately follow them / fall into them – BELIEVE that
they are SO REAL and in that: forget about what it is real RIGHT HERE – the physical
moment and its REAL CONTEXT.
So, with thoughts and emotions in such a context separating
us from reality, a REAL MOMENT - is an example of how and why we’re not even in
directive principle of our own thoughts/emotions – more importantly because we
don’t understand or even know where they in fact come from in the first place.
So, this is an important point to consider in this post: that it is because one
do not understand why they come up/exist/where they come from – that they
should be questioned/investigated and not the other way around where – because they
come up automatically, they’re immediately trusted/believed and regarded MORE
than what’s real/here.

Taming the Wild Nature of the Mind (Part Two): DAY 468
So, what Cerise needed to build the relationship with her
Horse was: Knowledge and Information, Technique and Tools to establish a
communication with her Horse – a language
that both equally understand to come-together in equality within and as their
relationship.
This same process goes for the Mind: we first have to
understand the mind, get to know it (the Knowledge and Information), then have
the Tools with which to work with it and the Technique to place the Knowledge
and Information with the Tools into practical living change with regards to who
we are within and as the Mind.
Now, if Cerise had the knowledge, information, technique and
tools only within herself – and didn’t take the initial first step of starting
the process: the relationship with her horse would not have developed in any
way whatsoever. With horses, one often do an initial ‘relationship assessment’
– to see how the horse responds to you, what is their nature etc. – one
essentially see/assess who/how one is, who/how the horse is and who/how you are
together. From here one start with the basics of establishing a relationship,
stabilizing the relationship and practise in the basics before one get to the
more complex forms of communication/interaction
in the relationship.
This is the same with our relationship to the Mind: if we
only hold the knowledge, information, technique and tools within ourselves in
relationship to the Mind, but still accept/allow ourselves in the Mind to ‘run
wild’ – no change will ever manifest within who we are / in the Mind and so
also not in our life/living experience/application. Therefore, in process – one
always start with the basics to analyse/assess your relationship to thoughts,
emotions/feelings, backchat, imagination.
To be able to ‘see yourself for who/how/what you are’ – you need to
self-honestly know how quickly you tend to follow thoughts, what particular
thoughts you tend to follow more easily than others, how/why/when/where you
give into emotions/feelings and what particular emotions/feelings you tend to
give into more easily than others. The same then goes for imaginations /
backchats. One need to have a ‘map’ of who you are in/as the Mind to from there
start with the basics to be able to establish a relationship with yourself, the
Mind and your life/living experience/application. From here, the process starts
with applying the knowledge, information, technique and tools step by step, day
by day – working with and changing what you’re able to at this stage based on
your current, self honest, relationship to
yourself and the Mind and your life/living experience/application.
See, again – if Cerise had an idea in her mind in relation
to the relationship with the Horse that she WANTS and she held onto that
projection and had tried to throw herself into the ‘deep-end’, so to speak,
already starting with complex forms of techniques / tools without having made
an realistic assessment of who she is/who the horse is and what their
relationship are in the current moment of interaction: she would have created
what we all so often face – the Illusion of ‘Failure’. When, all the while – it
has nothing to do with failure, but everything to do with not walking the
Process, not Preparing and not taking it step by step – but trying to manifest
the Mind’s Projection of the Future,
onto the now / here / present of physical reality and so not remembering what
it would in fact take to create a relationship in/as Physical Reality.
We often do the same in our Internal Process with the Mind –
we already ‘project’ who / how it is we’re going to be from the get-go and then
we try and immediately manifest that Mind Projection into Physical Reality and
so not remember that the Physical moves with space and time, with breaths, with
sequences of events and that – to Create in the Physical – takes time,
patience, commitment and dedication. Starting with the basics and establishing
a foundation to BUILD on that foundation as we continue walking and changing
and so, in this process, one can stop the Illusion of Failure – through
remembering the PHYSICAL PROCESS that has to be walked to change one’s
relationship to self, the mind and so who/how one is in one’s life/living
experience.
We’ll continue more in the next post with specifically
having a look at the ‘wild nature of the mind’ as it now exists because we’re
not the directive principle of our own thoughts/emotions, for example and so
why/how we’re not in control of our own Minds and our own life/living
experiences/decisions. In this, we’re going to see how we can assist / support
ourselves to rebuild ourselves, recreate ourselves within and without.

Taming the Wild Nature of the Mind: DAY 467
We were in the process of preparing the horses’ stables on a
very hot day. Grootman (Fidelis’s horse) was sprayed down with the hosepipe to
help him cool-off and we had put him in his stable – when the next horse up for
a spray-down was Fat (Cerise’s horse). Fat was on the other side of the stables
and Cerise was calling him – and it was this moment, Cerise calling her horse
and the way he responded – where I had seen years of working on a relationship
with her horse, with dedication, patience and perseverance: come together.
She was calling for his attention with her voice – she has a
very specific tonality that she uses with him and she always keeps to that very
specific pitch when she’s calling him. This tonality / voice pitch she has been
using consistently throughout the years. So, the moment she uses that specific
tonality – she first gets his attention and he stops in is tracks and he looks
at her. Once she got his attention – his eyes fixed on her, she uses her index
finger with a ‘come to me’ motion, pulling her index-finger towards her very
fast as to indicate to him to come to her. He was initially resistant, because
he was waiting for her at his stable – ready to go in, with the luscious and
delicious Lucerne and Oat Hay waiting for him in his stable: for the horses –
the Lucerne and Oat Hay are a real treat. But, Cerise first wanted to hose him
down to help is body cool off after a hot day – reaching 35 Degrees Celsius and
still, by 16:30 in the afternoon – the temperature was close to unbearable. It
was interesting to observe how Fat was backing off a bit and moving closer to
his stable; for a moment in an inner-conflict, because he WANTS
to go to the stable to have his ‘treats’ – but, at the same time he knows he
has to go to Cerise. So, Cerise would call him and he would move closer, but
back down a bit and then move closer, but back down – like the two of them
communicating, where Fat would say to her “No! I want to go to my treats” and
Cerise would say to him “Come here, we’re spraying you down first”. So,
eventually – she walked closer to him, becoming more stern in her voice and
motion with the finger, this time also using her body – getting his attention,
using the finger-motion and then walking
backwards – leading him towards her and the hosepipe. When she did this –
became more earnest in her request for him to come to her, he followed her –
standing on one spot where she instructed him to stand and he waited patiently
while she was hosing him down and then afterwards lead him to his stable.
To develop such a relationship with a
horse – where communication is through sound and physical movements is no easy
feat. Anyone that has worked with horses knows that to establish such a
relationship between human and horse is quite a process; where both have to
equally align into/as a ‘language’ each-other understands. This process for
Cerise has taken about 6 years, using various techniques – primarily Parelli – where,
when Fat looks at her and she looks at him: you can actually see the connection
between them, it’s awesome.
I have walked with Cerise for quite some time – and she
would always be out riding Fat, working with him, with such persistence and dedication,
it was fascinating to see in that one moment of interaction between the two of
them: how years came together to establish such a communication/relationship
between the two of them. The point that opened up within this is: we often do
not see immediately, how our dedication / commitment to something/someone will
unfold throughout days / months / years until you look back. Even with having a
look at the process we’re walking with Desteni
through the Mind – the moment-to-moment dedication and commitment that create a
relationship with self and self’s
living that will be seen as one look back to how/who one was before in the
Mind / Process and how one had changed through applying/living the tools in the
months/years one incorporated it into oneself / one’s living.
This is what I will be continuing with in posts to come –
utilizing this relationship between Cerise and her Horse and how specifically
this relates to our relationship with ourselves and our process, even with
regards to our relationship to others and eventually this World / Reality. This
specifically when it comes to time and patience, and also in relation to the ‘wild
nature’ of the Mind – with thoughts and emotions that go undirected /
unquestioned because we’re not taking directive principled responsibility in
our Minds and the consequence this creates within ourselves and our lives.
